Welcome to the City of Frankfort Virtual Model!
In this model, you can walk the streets of Frankfort any time and see what the city's
Main Street has to offer. Participating merchants and organizations within the city
have made it possible for you to find their business, and view their Web site just
by clicking their storefront!
We are proud to have Frankfort be the first city in the USA
to offer City Simuation.
NOTE: The model represents only Phase One, that is, Main Street from Lake
Michigan to 8th Street. Future phases will include more areas of Frankfort.

Not all machines will be able to run the model — the 3D graphics and virtual reality
software used are very intensive applications that require a lot of power from a
computer to run properly.
NOTE: If you are on Macintosh or other non-Windows platform,
please let the owners of this site know ( at citysoop@hotmail.com ) so they can monitor the
need for non-Windows version of the SimView Web viewer.
- You must meet these system requirements:
- High-speed internet connection (Cable, DSL, T1), not dial-up.
- Have a Windows computer with:
- Pentium III processor or higher (May work on AMD processors)
- 512 mB system memory (If you use Windows XP, or run a lot
of programs, 1GB of memory is recommended)
- 64 mB graphics card memory (Most ATI, nVidia, and Matrox
cards work well. Many Intel graphics cards do not.)
- Support for texture compression (this feature is required,
without it the 3D models will be very slow).
- Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP Home or Professional Edition
- Internet Explorer version 6.0 ( The latest version is available
here. )

- Download the SimViewWeb.exe Web viewer ActiveX installer from
this page:
- Quit Internet Explorer.
- Double-click on the downloaded SimViewWeb.exe icon to install
the SimView Web ActiveX viewer program.
- Run Internet Explorer and go here to view and use the model:
Places you can visit will have a hand available when you view their
storefront — click on the storefront to view their Web site. Come back often as more
businesses come on board. (NOTE: stores without a hand are not closed, but are just
not yet a participant in the model..)

Disable and remove the SimViewWeb ActiveX Control.
If need be, here's how to disable and remove the SimViewWeb ActiveX Control.
To disable the SimViewWeb ActiveX Control:
- In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu, and select
Internet Options...
- In the dialog box that appears, click on the Programs tab.
- Click on the Manage Add-ons... button.
- In the Show: pop-up menu, select: "Add-ons that have
been used by Internet Explorer"
- Click on SimViewWeb Control
- In the Settings box at the bottom left of the dialog box,
click on the Disable radio button.
- When is says you must restart Internet Explorer for this change
to take effect, click on OK
- Click OK two more times to close all the open dialog boxes.
Once disabled, the model will not work unless you go back and re-enable
SimViewWeb and restart Internet Explorer.
To remove the SimViewWeb ActiveX Control file being used:
- Go to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and delete the SimViewWeb.ocx
file.
- Another way, is to do a search on SimViewWeb.ocx then delete it
in the search results window by right-clicking on it and selecting Delete.
